Day 134: Gas, Food, and Medical Tape
Posted on | January 13, 2008 |
Another day in paradise.
I have no idea of what the means but my fingers typed it and I kinda like it, in a mysterious I-don’t-know-but-it-means-but-it-sounds-cool kind of way.
For me, today was another day in the Mommyhood. Church this morning. Food for The Son on the way home. Cleaning, laundry, phone calls, etc this afternoon. Grocery shopping with The Daughter this evening. Dinner, conversation, packing a sack lunch… no, don’t envy me my exciting life. I know it sounds glamorous but really I’m just like everyone else beneath this superstar exterior.
Church — $15.00
Weekly offering.
Wild Oats — $13.61
- pizza slice — $2.99
- house brand soda — $0.79
- Ecover dishwasher tablets — $5.29
- bag of Bob’s Red Mill organic unbleached white flour — $3.99
Safeway — $31.81
Filled The Husband’s little Impreza (we switched cars since I expected to do the afternoon pick-up-The-Daughter run). I pumped 11.828 gallons at $2.689 gallons. His odometer reads a mere 15,005 miles.
Safeway — $65.85
I never shop at Safeway. I’m a Kroger woman. But if I buy $50 worth of groceries using my Safeway member card, I get a $0.10 per gallon discount the next time I fill up at a Safeway station. Sometimes I have The Husband take my card when he expects to make a Safeway run. This time I just happened to need a few things and didn’t feel like detouring to the nearby Kroger so The Daughter and decided to give it a go. I was bound and determined to 1) not buy anything I wouldn’t normally have purchased on a Kroger run; and 2) not get up to the register and only have $45 worth of items in my cart. I think we did pretty well considering the fact that both The Daughter and I were SWI (Shopping While Impaired) — she with her finger in a splint and me suffering a mild fibro flare.
- Tostitos corn chips — $1.88 (saved $1.61)
- 2 bags of Quaker rice cakes — $1.50/ea (saved $0.79/ea.)

- O organic apple sauce — $2.50 (saved $0.34)
- Dole fruit juice — $3.79
- 2 Digiorno pizzas — $4.00/ea (saved $2.29/ea.)
- 2 Breyers ice cream — $4.99/ea (saved $1.50/ea.)
- box of Veggie burgers — $2.50 (saved $0.39)
